Bovine Ultrasound

Robyn Harris

Using ultrasound for preg testing in cattle can detect a pregnancy earlier than using manual palpation, sometimes as early as 30 days. It can also be less stressful for the cow and gives a visual confirmation that there is a pregnancy. Using ultrasound instead of manual palpation causes less fatigue on the operator and allows a quicker detection time for each animal.

We use a portable ultrasound unit that is hand free using a special transducer for cattle.
